I had the best of times in London at the Comic Con and I came back bursting with motivation. I met nice people there, had lots of fun and came back home empty handed cause folks, we sold everything! The Sherlock fanbook keeps selling like crazy and the Doctor Who fanbook couldn’t have had a brighter start. I really hope that everyone who brought one of them home has enjoyed them.

In between sales and walks to the toilet I had some time to doodle some Doctor Who fanarts and I even got to sell one of them! I was dwelling between sheer happiness and sincere amazement. Here are some of the doodles, including the one I sold, River Song’s one.

Hey guys,

I’m about to take off, I’m travelling to London to spend the weekend at the MCM London Comic Con selling Sherlock and Doctor Who fanbooks which are made from collaborations from many different artists, all together passionate about both fandoms. The Sherlock fanbook is a reprint but the Doctor Who one has just been printed and I must say it is beautiful! There are so many talented artists in it, there’s even a double page traditional oil painting.

I already talked about my collaboration to the Sherlock fanbook, but here’s a preview of the illustration I did for the DW one:

Doctor Who Illustration preview.

We are super excited to be there for the weekend. If you are around come say hello to the “Life in a Glasscase” stand.

The superheroes battle has been discontinued this week due to the Disney workshop. While I find time to catch up and draw someone to fight against Professor X and, why not, talk to you a bit about the workshop itself, I’m leaving here for your eyes only my portofolio as it was in January for the review for the Disney course. If you’re a more or less constant follower you’ll have seen almost everything by this time but even if that is the case there are some things won’t have seen yet.

Nope, we’re not yet bored of the superhero game. Earlier this week Santi pulled Aquaman against the Human Torch and today I’m getting back at him with the Swamp Thing. The Swamp Thing, sweet little creature, is more of a bodyless consciousness that can trasplant itself into any vegetal lifeform. He is therefore super cool and almost invulnerable to physical attacks.

I keep insisting in painting. I think I might be starting to figure out how to do it. Some pieces of Swampy give me hope for the future.

Watch your back, Aquaman!

#2 The Human Torch

#Aquaman

Hello folks!

So friend and kickass artist Santi and I teamed up for a collaborative just-for-fun superhero drawing battle. The rules are simple:

1. We have 3-4 (or more xD) days to draw the superhero that we think would win the last superhero the other drew.

2. All works: all publishers, all universes.

3. The game goes on until we’re bored or there are no more superheroes left that we can recall of. No repeating!

Santi started last week with Jubilee. And I say… “Human Torch! I choose you!” (Cause this is pretty much like pokemon xD)

For reasons that are impossible for me to articulate it got into my head that this was the best moment to start trying speed painting even if my brain kept on telling me “You don’t actually know how to paint”. Well… guess I had to start some time, right? Just ignore the flames… I was like… “this was going to be speed painting! I’m over this.”

Tell us what you think. Who would win this battle, Jubilee or Johnny?

Previous battle entries:
#1. Jubilee

I honestly think Mooonrise Kingdom is the best of the movies by Wes Anderson so far, it enchanted me ever since I watched the trailer.

Edit: I knew it wasn’t working the way I coloured it. I suck at colour. But a good friend smacked me hard on the face and told me to man up and fix it and make it less horrible. So here it is, fixed.

Suzy and Sam are planning how to get into lots of trouble. I shake hands with them for that.

The winner of the contest I submitted an illustration to two weeks ago has been announced. Congratulations to the winner and to the people who submitted their work. Go check their submissions.

Now I can show you my entry:

Now, moving on to different matters, just a reminder that my 6 pages story Wallflower can be found in this year’s Lis en Fleur‘s edition and it will be sold from tomorrow in the Salón del Manga in Barcelona @ Life in a Glasscase’s stand.

Have a terrific Halloween // Buena víspera de Todos los Santos 🙂

I submitted today an illustration for this contest. Maria Llovet‘s “Porcelain” graphic novel’s printed version is coming out at the end of the month and she organised a fan art contest together with the publishing company Norma Ed.

We’ll see how that goes. While waiting for the results, I strongly encourage you all to get a glimpse of Porcelain, which she has been uploading a page a day for the past six months to her blog in spanish, english and french.

However turns the contest, I’ll upload my illustration to the blog when the winner is announced.

In April I posted the sketch for an illustration that was going to be published in a BBC Sherlock’s Fan Book as an extra feature in a short story I wrote the script for as well. The story featured Irene back in the UK in disguise and some stolen jewels, no apparent connection *rolleyes.

Well, the fan book has been, as far as I know, a great hit and now that several months have gone by I think it’s time I release the illustration for the public rejoicing. I also did the cover/backcover illustration for that story. It was an integrated part of the story and it’s resolution (you guess where were the jewels hidden… :P). Click to enlarge. ^^

I’m sorry I’ve been neglecting you. I’m not having much time for drawing or updating the blog lately. I’m trying to keep focus on my thesis so I can graduate by July.

I’m anyway managing to find some time for my long-term project. I’ve been studying script-writing books during the whole winter and been trying to put together what I’ve learned in these past months in some actual scripts.

I’m also going to be part of a BBC Sherlock’s Fan Book which will be launched at the end of May. The director of the fanzine will be selling it in London at the MCM. It is the first time I’m joining a fanzine, so I’m super excited. More specifically, I’m contributing a 10 pages comic script for my ex-flatmate to draw (cause honestly, thesis. No time for drawing 10 pages in the next three months, even less in the past three weeks), the front and back pages for that same story within the book and an illustration. That sketch up there is a sneak-peak from that illustration and it’s all I can show. What do Sherlock and Cabaret have in common, shall be revealed in the book. 🙂
